What is Umrah
Umrah is called the lesser pilgrimage, but if you perform umrah in Ramadan, umrah is considered to be the same as hajj or a hajj performed with the Prophet himself. Umrah takes only a few hours to complete, unlike hajj. Umrah journeys from Jordan leave weekly and normally people depart by bus. The bus trip will make many stops to allow you to eat and go to the bathroom. It is a very enjoyable time. During the trip you will see the country of Jordan and its beautiful scenery. As you travel, the sheik will give regular lectures and lead you in Talbiyah.

Trips to Hajj
The pilgrimage is required on every Muslim once in his life, if he can afford to go. The trip takes around 20 days. If you are traveling by bus, you will leave Jordan and travel for around 18 hours. You must stop at the Saudi border to check your paperwork in and check your money also. You must show all your money to the guard. Your bags are checked to make sure you are not bringing in anything illegal.
You will then stop for lunch and bathroom breaks along the way. You will go to Medina first for 3 to 5 days. These days are very blessed days and a time to visit the tomb of Prophet Mohammad and send greetings upon him and Abu Bakr and Omar. All three have a tomb at the mosque there. You will also be able to spend your time praying and worshiping Allah.
There are wonderful shopping malls in Medina and many prefer shopping in Medina opposed to Mecca. Your tour guide will arrange for transportation of all your purchases home. Many will buy blankets and gifts to bring back to their family and friends as common to do during the pilgrimage.
Proceeding on to Mecca from Medina
After the time in Medina is finished, you will go to Mecca and prepare for hajj. You may not do any shopping during the pilgrimage days. This is a time only for devotion to Allah. Your tour guide will prepare you for the journey and help you to know what are the proper things to say and do. You must pray outside of the Haram (mosque) before entering and then when you site the kaba, you must make a dua, as this dua will be accepted and granted, if Allah wills.
You must the circle the kaba 7 times and praise Allah for bringing you here. You will then begin the rituals of greeting the Haram, drinking of zam zam water and beginning your umrah. It is traditional to do umrah once and then hajj. Many will do more than one umrah while waiting for hajj to begin. You must go to the miqat, place where you must enter into ihram (state of consecration) before going to Mecca, each time you do umrah. You can take a taxi to the closest miqat and then go back to Mecca and do your umrah. The cost of the taxi is very minimal.

May Allah grant you a Hajj mabroor (accepted hajj) and grant you heaven. Umrah will give you all your sins forgiven, but hajj grants you jannah (heaven).
