Welcome to Jordan and Beyond
2017 - LISTED AS THE TOP DESTINATION FOR TRAVELERS

Jordan has long been the center of the Universe in the Middle East. We are close to everything and one of the least expensive countries to visit. Syria, Israel and Egypt all border Jordan. Saudi Arabia is just to the south and many will take very cheap tours to Mecca and Medina to do their religious pilgrimages and Umrah's. So whether you are looking for an enjoyable day at a Roman Amphitheater, above, or just want to go scuba diving in Aqaba, Jordan has it all.
Jordan is also considered to be a safe haven of the Middle East. You can feel totally safe here in Jordan and I should know because I have lived in Jordan as a foreigner for 13 years now. I am now a resident of Jordan and as an American convert and editor of this website, I can tell you that Jordan is safer than any place in America or the UK. The Jordan Flag According to VisitJordan.com, "The Jordanian flag symbolizes the Kingdom's roots in the Great Arab Revolt of 1916, as it is adapted from the revolt banner. The black, white and green bands represent the Arab Abbasid, Umayyad and Fatimid dynasties respectively, while the crimson triangle joining the bands represents the Hashemite dynasty. The seven-pointed Islamic star set in the center of the crimson triangle represents the seven verses of Surat Al-Fatiha, the first sura in the Holy Qura'n." Facts About Jordan
Entry into Jordan Requires a Visa The cost of a visa is 20 JDs per person for all nationalities. If there are 5 or more persons arriving in a tour group, the cost of the visa is waived, provided the group enters and leaves together and stays a minimum of 2 nights in Jordan. The visas can be obtained at the airport or at the Jordanian Embassy. Traveling with Pets to Jordan If you are traveling to Jordan with your pets, be aware that they do not quarantine healthy pets. You must however have your pet up to date with his shot records. All inoculations must be done at least 30 days before travel and no longer than 12 months prior. At the gate of entry, you "may" be required to show paperwork that you have gone through the proper channels. Other countries however have stricter requirements when you are leaving port and you should check with them about what they require. Heaven forbid if you do not have proper documentation and your pet is unable to enter Jordan. Dress and Customs in Jordan Although you may see many advertisements about women wearing bikini's in the dead sea and swimming in the ocean with skimpy clothes, when you are in the city, it is best to dress very conservative. The Bedouins would consider it an insult for you to show up in their area, near Wadi Rum with short shorts on and halter tops. Please, just dress conservative and understand the culture here in Jordan. My choice for pet carriers -- I have had mine since 1998 |
